Sponsorship

Our hotels sponsor many charities and non-profit initiatives on a local level through actions such as fund-raising assistance, training, free meeting rooms and other in-kind donations. You can read more about these actions on the websites of the individual hotels. Locally and regionally, the hotels also support many sporting activities, in Germany for example, the region sponsored the German Sledge Hockey team, and in Denmark, the Park Inn hotels sponsored the female Olympic volley ball team.

At corporate level we have also undertaken sponsorship of the following:

World Cycle

The ultimate endurance cycle adventure; to become the fastest person to have ever circumnavigated the globe by bicycle, Mark Beaumont, a former Rezidor employee, is setting off on a solo attempt to break this 18,000 mile record. The current Guinness World Record stands at 276 days 19 hrs 15 min or just over 9 months. Mark is planning to smash this by cycling around the globe in under seven months, with a target of 210 days. Leaving from Paris on August 5th 2007 from the Champs Elysees Mark will race eastwards through Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and North America before a sprint from Lisbon, Portugal back to the finish line in Paris.

Preparing for this grueling expedition began in May 2006 and has taken an incredible amount of logistical planning and training. This World Record attempt has attracted the support of His Royal Highness Prince Philip who agrees that this is a fantastic opportunity to promote youth enterprise and activity. Acclaimed mountaineer Doug Scott CBE, one of the first Britons to summit Mount Everest, is also supporting this ultra endurance challenge.
